3-D Mammography

What is a 3-D Mammogram?

A 3-D mammogram is an innovative imaging technique used for breast cancer screenings.

A 3-D screening captures multiple X-ray images from various angles. These images are then reconstructed into a 3-D representation of the breast tissue, offering several advantages over traditional, 2-D mammograms.

Benefits of 3-D Mammograms

Approved by FDA

3-D mammogram is approved by the FDA as clinically superior to traditional mammography. This advancement provides education and assurance to health care providers and patients in the effectiveness of 3-D mammography.

Detect Invasive Cancer

Compared to conventional 2-D mammography, 3-D mammography has a 41% higher invasive breast cancer detection rate. The 3-D images allow radiologists to examine breast tissue layer by layer, which increases the accuracy of detection.

Reduction of false positives

It reduces the number of women (up to 40%) who are called back for unnecessary screenings due to false alarms. This reduction in false positives means fewer women will need additional imaging or biopsies, which also reduces health care costs, unnecessary discomfort from procedures, and anxiety for patients.
