Meet Victor Bautista-Hernandez, MD, PhD
Victor Bautista-Hernandez, MD, PhD, joined CHRISTUS Children's Heart Center in January 2021. He is an Associate Professor with Baylor College of Medicine with expertise in congenital heart surgery, including neonatal and adult congenital surgery, assist devices and lung and heart transplantation.
Prior to joining CHRISTUS Children's, Dr. Bautista served as Director of the Congenital Heart Surgery Program and Associate Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de la Coruña, Spain. Dr. Bautista received his medical degree and his PhD from Universidad de Murcia, Spain. He completed a three-year fellowship training program at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
He is certified by the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery and is an active member of major surgical associations, including American Association for Thoracic Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, and Sociedad Española de Cirugia Cardiovascular y Endovascular. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers which accumulate more than 1,000 citations in PubMed.
