Growing up in a miliary family with a special needs sibling, Dr. Perkins' family experienced multiple moves and many medical challenges. He says the city of San Antonio and the military community helped shape his perceptions from a young age. He understands the value of working together to protect those who can’t protect themselves.
Growing up, he was fascinated by technology, sciences of all kinds and systems. This led to an interest in neurosciences, ultimately medical school, residency/fellowship and a fascination for epilepsy and autism. His goal is to help children with neurological problems (especially epilepsy and autism) attain the highest quality of life possible. He says he has been fortunate to work with very talented and dedicated people – which continues to this day.
Dr. Perkins' wife is a pediatrician and they have one child who is studying horticulture at Texas State University. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, baking and being outdoors.

Dr Perkins is excellent at what he does. He recorded the visit to allow him to give me his full attention. He listened to me, while also watching my child. He not only explained it in great detail but in a way I could understand. If he used medical terminology, he would then explain what it meant. Dr Perkins came up with several options for treatment my child. This experience was so positive. I have seen several neurologist who really didn't offer much assistance. As a parent, you are always searching for the best possible care for your kids. Dr Perkins is that person.
Dr. Perkins made us feel at ease when he gave us our grandson‘s diagnosis. He has a great Demeanor and bedside manner Which Showed us that he really enjoys What he does. We really loved the way that he helped our grandson feel at ease By playing game tactics with him while he was being examined. The whole time we were there Dr. Perkins Spoke to us in a way that we could easily understand and he consistently asked if we had any questions to help us better understand about Our grandson’s diagnosis and treatment. Any family would be lucky to have him as their doctor.
