Exxon partners with CHRISTUS to expand health care access in San Patricio County

Donation will support mobile care services and future medical education initiatives

1/07/2026

CHRISTUS Health announced a significant partnership with ExxonMobil to improve health care access for communities across the Coastal Bend. This generous donation will strengthen CHRISTUS’s ability to deliver essential services to underserved areas, particularly in San Patricio County.

Exxon’s support builds on a history of contributions to CHRISTUS initiatives, including the Grand Classic Golf Tournament, CHRISTUS Spohn Lyceum, emergency room expansion at Spohn South, the Path Forward Capital Campaign for the North Tower and projects at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital - Kleberg.

San Patricio County faces major health challenges, including limited access to primary care, high uninsured rates and gaps in preventive services. This partnership enables CHRISTUS to expand outreach and provide care where it is needed most.

Since 2010, the CHRISTUS Spohn CareVan has delivered vital health services to rural areas, churches and low-income neighborhoods. Services include flu shots, diabetes screenings, blood pressure checks, wound care, cholesterol and glucose testing, on-site wellness counseling and physician referrals. The mission is clear: remove barriers to care and improve health equity across the Coastal Bend.

Starting in 2026, Graduate Medical Education residents will join the CareVan team to provide quick care and preventive services. Partnerships like this one are essential to creating healthier communities, and CHRISTUS looks forward to continuing this work with Exxon.

This partnership is making a lasting impact on health and wellness in San Patricio County and beyond.
